World Cup: USA - Germany starting XI announced

The United States and Germany game, the final of Group G at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, looked like it could be postponed because of rain and flooding in Recife. FIFA announced that the game will go on as scheduled, but conditions are so bad that the United States team told family and friends not to risk the trip.

But the game will be played, and both teams have announced their starting XI for the game.

The interesting addition to the American’s line up is Brad Davis into the midfield, who is replacing Alejandro Bedoya, who played on the left wing. In the center of the defense, Omar Gonzalez will start in place of Geoff Cameron.

Against Portugal the United States went with one forward, captain Clint Dempsey, in the wake of Jozy Altidore’s injury. Altidore is still out and not playing and the United States went heavy on the midfield again leaving Dempsey up front alone.

The strategy seemed to work against Portugal though, no reason to doubt it’s capabilities. The United States would’ve walked away with a win from that Portugal game had a couple of mental errors on their part not been made. One of those errors was made by Cameron, whose lazy clearance attempt set up the early goal by Nani.
