You get the feeling the Brewers are a pretty loose bunch, and Carlos Gomez is one of the big reasons they are having so much fun.

More from Milwaukee Brewers

That and the fact that they’re in first place, and having one of the best seasons in franchise history. Winning kind of loosens everyone up, I don’t know if you’ve noticed.

These Gomez antics – painting his face up and turning the locker room into something from a Sylvester Stallone movie – would not be nearly as funny if the Brewers were in last place.

It also would not be nearly as funny if, instead of Nerf guns, they were real guns. Then it would be horrifying. Carlos Gomez would not be a playful, child-like jokester, he’d be a horrific mass murderer.

Good thing they’re only Nerf guns and not real guns. I like Carlos Gomez much better as a goofball than a cold blooded killer.

We’ll see if Carlos and the Brewers can keep it up through the whole season. They’re on top of the world right now, having Nerf wars in their locker room, but things can change quick in MLB.

One minute you’re screwing around with Nerf, the next minute you’re screaming at each other because you can’t get a win.
