There’s a new best high school basketball player in America according to 247Sports, only he isn’t exactly American. On Thursday, the recruiting website updated the Top247 rankings for the 2015 basketball class and Ben Simmons takes the cake.

Simmons, a native of Australia, is a 6’8″, 190-pound combo forward currently playing for Montverde (Fla.) Academy. He is also verbally committed to the LSU Tigers, and has been since October of 2013.

According to Jerry Meyer, 247Sports’ Director of Basketball Scouting, Simmons is described as the most complete player in the country.

“Simmons has developed both a physical and finesse game,” said Meyer. “He plays through contact and finishes adeptly with either hand. Although he doesn’t shoot many jumpers, Simmons has potential as a shooter. Defensively, he has great instincts and understands positioning.”

Not only is Simmons the No. 1 player in the Top247, he’s also the No. 1 player in the 247 Composite Rankings.

Rounding out the top five in the newest Top247 rankings are Jaylen Brown, Cheik Diallo, Malik Newman and Ivan Rabb. Of that group, just Newman is a guard, while none are shorter than 6’3″ at this point.
