Mike Evans was one of Johnny Manziel’s favorite targets in college. Not only was he one of his favorite targets, but a very good friend. During the most recent NFL draft, when Evans was drafted, Manziel stood up and applauded him. He then walked over and congratulated his friend.

So when Evans comes out and praises Manziel, it isn’t very surprising.

"“The NFL hasn’t seen anything like (Manziel). He’s a better passer than most people give him credit for and he can adapt,” Evans said, per Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal. “I think he’s the best quarterback prospect in this draft, and I think he’ll change the program here in Cleveland.”"

Manziel is definitely a talented passer who gets criticized for his run and gun style he had in college. Now while Evans is a friend, and his praise needs to be taken with a grain of salt, the guy who probably knows best when it comes to Manziel’s passing ability, is one of his former wide receivers.

Another question about Manziel was his ability to be mature, and lead a team. Most of this criticism came from his partying off the field.

"“He’s just under a bigger microscope,” Evans explained. “Everybody does it. When he gets on the field, all of that will go to rest”"

It’s hard to believe that Manziel’s spotlight of his off field activities will go away once he starts playing in the NFL. Fans want to hear everything about what Manziel does these days. He’s almost as popular for what he does off field as for what he does on the field.
