With the 12th overall selection in the 2014 NHL Draft, the newly rebranded Airzona Coyotes selected Brendan Perlini from Niagara of the OHL.

Perlini was the 12th ranked player in the final FanSided NHL Draft big board, and ended up going right where I expected him to go.

“Once the draft began I got pretty excited,” Perlini said. “I’m so happy. To be picked by a team like this is an honor.”

At 6’2, 205lbs, Perlini was a man among boys last season with the Ice Dogs. He knew how to use his size and strength to his advantage, and it paid off in terms of getting scouts to notice him. He’s a player with great intangibles, and has all of the skills necessary to be a good player in the NHL.

His biggest issue is putting everything together in a complete package.

Final Grade: A
