It’s NHL Draft weekend, which means the futures of 210 young men, and many more, are going to be decided. Some players will see dreams come true, while others may find themselves disappointed.

More from NHL

However, just because it’s the NHL Draft doesn’t mean that only prospects will have their futures decided. Often, major trades take place during draft weekend that helps turn teams from pretenders into contenders. At least, that’s what the teams hope.

Players like Jordan Staal in 2012 and Cory Schneider in 2013 are just two of the biggest names dealt during the NHL Draft. This season, players like Ryan Kesler of the Vancouver Canucks, Evander Kane from Winnipeg and Patrick Sharp of the Blackhawks are just a few of the names rumored to be on the move this weekend.
