In the short history of this match, which dates all the way back to WrestleMania 21 in 2005, there is only one person to win the contract twice, and that man is CM Punk.
Punk won the match at WrestleMania 24 and 25, back-to-back, and he was also able to cash that contract in successfully both times.
As we know, Punk is not with the company at the moment after he walked out the night after the Royal Rumble back in January following differences with the creative team. But, will he be in Boston on Sunday?
It might sound crazy, yes, but in a recent interview with Between the Ropes, current WWE star Alberto Del Rio conducted an interview, and when he was asked whether or not he believes Punk would be making a return to the company, rather than brush the question off like some do, he never missed a beat. He simply stated that Punk will not only be back, but he’ll be back “soon”.
"“Yeah, of course. He’ll be back soon. I don’t know when, but he’ll back.”"
It goes without saying that it would definitely be the shock of the century to see Punk show up in some capacity in Boston, however with the WWE being in the financial straits they have been this year, it’s already been reported the the company, mainly Vince McMahon himself, has reached out to Punk about coming back sooner rather than later.
Did Del Rio accidentally foreshadow an appearance this Sunday?
