The Sacramento Kings didn’t hold the first pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, but that doesn’t mean they were shutout in the Wiggins sweepstakes. Yes, the Cleveland Cavaliers selected Andrew Wiggins with the top pick in Thursday’s draft but the Kings also have their own Wiggins as they signed his older brother, Nick Wiggins just a few hours later.

More from NBA

While from the same bloodline, the two players share little in common outside of their defensive tenacity. The younger Wiggins is known to be a high-flyer while his big brother is more of a grind-it-out talent who gets by on hard work more than athletic ability.

A 6’6 shooting guard out of Wichita State, Nick Wiggins struggled severely with his shot during his senior season with the Shockers, though was much more impressive offensively during his junior season when he shot 41 percent from behind the arc.

A two-year transfer student, Nick Wiggins helped a relatively talented Shockers team reach the NCAA Tournament thanks to his tough play off the bench, though it’s questionable if he’ll see any NBA floor time with the Sacramento Kings given he’s nothing more than a Summer League signing.

If Nick Wiggins is to impress during his Summer stint with the Sacramento Kings, the most likely scenario would be for the team to sign him and relocate him to their Developmental League franchise, the Reno Bighorns. Of course, that would be something Wiggins would also need to accept, but it’s unlikely he has a ton of suitors knocking down his door at this current time.
