Monday is the end of the month of June but the start of another fantasy baseball week, so don’t let the World Cup or the dog days of summer distract you from getting your team in the best shape it can be headed into another week.  If you’re looking to make a move in your starting rotation, check out these options who are widely available and ready to start on Monday.

Whenever you’re scouring the waiver wire, check out my daily options right here on Fansided (archive here). Here are the basic ground rules: recent results are on the final slide of this post, and my choices are always available in at least half of ESPN leagues when I pick them (each player’s ownership percentage is included in parentheses after their team name).  I also include a risk and reward ranking for each selection on a scale of 1-5 with five being the most risk and the most reward.

Here’s my Monday picks:

Jesse Hahn-San Diego Padres (11.7%)

Hahn starts the week with his fifth start of his Major League career as he and the Padres host the Reds at pitcher-friendly Petco. He’ll be opposed by former Padre Mat Latos so a win could be tough to come by, but Hahn has been good enough in his last three outings that he’s still my top pick for the day.

Hahn has earned three straight quality starts against the Mets, Mariners, and Giants.  In those three outings, he’s allowed just two earned runs on 10 hits while going a total of 19 innings.  He’s also picked up a win in every one of those starts, and has 22 strikeouts with seven or more in each of those outings.

Even if Latos is completely on and the Padres can’t back him up, Hahn is worth your pickup because he provides strikeouts and has been pitching extremely well.  His second start of the week is scheduled for the weekend against the Giants who he beat in his last start, so he’s worth holding if he shows himself well on Monday.

Risk-2, Reward-5
