The NBA offseason never ceases to amaze fans and it never fails to contain some sort of absolutely asinine story that somehow ends up being true in the end. Last night we heard about Jason Kidd getting offered a massive leadership role with the Milwaukee Bucks to become team president and that story apparently has legs.

More from Brooklyn Nets

Not only are the Bucks legitimate candidates to yank Kidd away from the Nets — who are reportedly ‘done’ with their head coach — but Brooklyn is already making plans to replace Kidd in the very near future. According to ESPN.com, the Nets have eyes on Mark Jackson to be Jason Kidd’s replacement should this business with the Bucks turn out to lead somewhere.

"Sources told ESPN.com on Saturday night that the name of former Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson has come up internally as a potential candidate to replace Kidd if he indeed leaves the Nets. Jackson was ousted by the Warriors in May after his own flap with ownership, and he famously defended Kidd’s decision to demote highly paid lead assistant Lawrence Frank."

Jackson hasn’t had much luck on the coaching market up to this point but Brooklyn is a brilliant job for the former Golden State head coach and it’s one that the Nets should consider even if Kidd doesn’t end up taking the job with the Bucks.

The Nets need a true leader and Kidd seemed more like a novelty last season than the pioneer he’s being made out to be ater Steve Kerr and Derek Fisher found jobs in similar fashion.
