The NBA offseason is here which means those Carmelo Anthony rumors we’ve been hearing about for months are finally going to start kicking into high gear on us all.

More from NBA

One team that remains hopeful they can land Melo is his old team in the New York Knicks, but their chances are dwindling it seems. Don’t tell that to some in the organization as it appears that the allure of the massive New York market might be more valuable than a winning roster.

According to Marc Berman from the New York Post, the Knicks like their chances of bringing Melo back because they know how much he loves the big city lights that New York has and the market will play an essential selling tool for the Knicks.

"The source told The Post this week one reason Anthony wants to remain in New York is he has enjoyed being in a big media market, as opposed to being in Denver."

New York is a massive market but to say that’s the an appeal over the likes of Los Angeles or Chicago is just a foolish thing to say. The Knicks need to assemble a roster of talent to sell to Melo as he can go to a slightly smaller market in Chicago to play for an iconic franchise with a solid roster.

To simply say Melo likes New York better than Denver is a bit irrelevant at the moment as Chicago is not Denver and the Nuggets are not in on any of these talks. It will take more than New York pride to sell Melo on staying and the fact that this is hard to get through to the Knicks goes to show how lost they really are.
