The New York Knicks are currently trying to figure out a way to convince Carmelo Anthony to come back next year but that’s a lot easier said than done. As the Knicks are finding out, Melo is going to be shopping himself on the open market this summer and may end up finding a better situation in another market.

Still, the Knicks are hoping that New York is where he wants to stay and so far there are rumblings within the organization that this is what will happen.

According to Marc Berman from the New York Post, one player noted that Carmelo Anthony gave no indication that he was going to leave the Knicks and said that the bright lights of the New York market is what Melo ultimately covets.

"According to one Knicks player Carmelo Anthony spoke to recently, he gave no indication he was planning an exit strategy from New York."

This is interesting in that Melo hasn’t really said much publicly about his desires to stay in new York or leave for another large market, which means that deciphering all of the rumors and speculation is even harder than it otherwise would be.  The fact of the matter remains that Melo is in play just about anywhere and New York has a good chance of landing him.

Of course, the recent Tyson Chandler trade might have sunk the Knicks chances a bit, but we can’t count them out until something comes directly from Melo himself.
