Robert Downey Jr.’s son arrested for cocaine possession

I think it is safe to say that Robert Downey Jr. is none too pleased with the news he received this weekend about his son.

Downey’s twenty year old son Indio Downey was arrested this weekend for, of all things, cocaine possession.

According to TMZ, Indio was the passenger in a vehicle when an officer with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department pulled up next to them and noticed that the passenger was smoking something about of a pipe and subsequently pulled the vehicle over.

Upon a search of what one would assume is vehicle and person, the Sheriff’s deputies found cocaine in Downey’s possession. As you can imagine, he was arrested and carted off to jail on charge of cocaine possession.

As one would imagine, he was able to make bail rather quickly, and was released from custody in the wee hours of the morning on Sunday.

While Indio hasn’t taken any major steps towards following in his father’s footsteps as an actor, he did have his first appearance on the big screen at the tender age of nine years old when he starred in the film Kiss Kiss Bang Bang as a nine year old version Harry Lockhart, a role that was played by his father.

In a twist of unkind irony, Indio is about to star in a film by the name of Run for Roxanne which is about a drug runner who is forced to go on the run with his sister in order to escape an assassin.

One would hope that he would have learned a valuable lesson from the mistakes that his father has made, and since overcome, in the course of his lifetime, but I guess at some point, we all have to make our own mistakes.

Hopefully, Indio learns from this and doesn’t get caught up in the downward spiral his father did so many years ago.
