With July 1 now officially here on the east coast, that means the NBA Free Agency period has officially opened up. That also means we will soon know where Carmelo Anthony will be playing this season, whether it’s back with the New York Knicks or somewhere else.

Despite the rumors that Melo is all but gone, there have been some whispers that a return to the Knicks shouldn’t be completely ruled out.
Whatever the case may be in that department, according to Marc J. Spears, the team is very confident that they will have the final opportunity to get to speak with their prized free agent.
Generally, this puts them at a distinct advantage as they will know better than anyone where they stand in the chase. Lately, it seems that new team president Phil Jackson is quite confident that he can bring the star back to chase a championship, and it seems that he will get the final opportunity to pitch that to the veteran.
Right now, though, it seems that the consensus is that Carmelo will either end up with the Chicago Bulls or Houston Rockets, teams that he will meet with shortly now that the free agency period is underway.
