Bulls Rumors: Derrick Rose reached out to Carmelo Anthony

Carmelo Anthony is the talk of Chicago at the moment as he’s the highly coveted free agent that the Chicago Bulls are trying to reel in so that they can finally have a Bi 3 to answer the one that may or may not disband this summer down in Miami. A Big 3 of Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah and Carmelo Anthony is hard to argue with and Joakim Noah has been lobbying for it to happen since the All-Star Break.

But when it comes to how excited Derrick Rose is for the idea of adding another superstar, he’s not going to break his rule of not publicly recruiting players just because adding Melo is a good idea. But don’t take Rose’s coldness for disinterest in adding Melo as the opposite seems to be the truth.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Derrick Rose has reached out to Carmelo Anthony and is open to meeting with him privately if he wants to talk about a future with the Bulls.

"Joakim Noah has been talking to Anthony since the All-Star break. Derrick Rose doesn’t publicly recruit players, but sources told the Tribune last week word has reached Anthony’s camp that Rose would welcome Anthony’s arrival. If Anthony wants to talk to Rose, sources said an effort for that conversation will be made."

Rose made headlines a few years ago when he failed to extend an olive branch to LeBron James, Chris Bosh or any other big name free agent in 2010 and then made waves when he basically flipped them the bird for being offended that he didn’t care if they joined his team or not.

The former MVP has always been reserved and he’s never recruited but his openness to meeting with Melo privately goes to show how much Rose loves the idea of adding Melo even if he won’t publicly say so.
