New Jersey Devils Free Agency: Martin Havlat signs one-year deal

The NHL is in a free agent feeding frenzy at the moment as deals are being agreed to left and right all across the league. With names like Ryan Miller, Thomas Vanek, Matt Moulson and Paul Stastny all coming off the market, things are getting interesting in the NHL as teams continue to beef up their lineups and seek out top free agents.

One big name to come off the board in an intersting place is veteran martin Havlat, who will be trading in his San Jose Sharks sweater for a New Jersey Devils one after inking a one year deal to head East and help the Devils try to get back to the Stanley Cup.

If it wasn’t enough that Havlat has inked a new deal with the Devils, McKenzie also reports that the veteran will be getting $2 million from the Sharks buying him out, making his total haul from the first day of free agency a cool $3.5 million.

Havlat will be coming to a Devils taem ready to win and do so now and adding a veteran skater like Havlat shows the commitment New Jersey has to become a force in the Eastern Conference once again.
