“Our customers have been asking for Bitcoin as a payment option for months,” said Soren Mills, chief marketing officer of Newegg North America. “We believe there is a pent-up demand just waiting to be served and we are happy to open this payment option to them.”

Newegg is accepting payments with Bitcoin thanks to a partnership with Bitcoin transaction processor, BitPay.

The adaption by Newegg is, to some within the industry, just another step towards making Bitcoin another simple way to purchase products over the internet. Newegg joins TigerDirect, Expedia and Apple’s App Store as just some of the outlets allowing the use of the virtual currency to pay for goods and services.

For Newegg to adapt the use of the new currency now cements it as a company backing the service full after selling equipment to Bitcoin miners for the past year.

“Our customers are among some of the earliest bitcoin miners and are enthusiastic proponents of the crypto-currency,” Mills said. “Adopting bitcoin as a payment method is another way we’re responding to our customers’ diverse needs.”

To clarify how easy it is to use Bitcoin for purchases, Newegg released a simply walkthrough on how to use the currency on its website.
