World Cup Bracket update: Belgium eliminates USA, advances

The United States and Belgium played in a game that was a nightmare for Americans through the first 105 minutes. They managed to force extra time despite Belgium taking 31 shots in the first 90 minutes, 11 of which were on target.

They only forced extra time thanks to a remarkable performance from goalkeeper Tim Howard. They gave up two goals in the first period of extra time and the Americans looked  out of it. Youngster Julian Green came on to the field and scored off his first touch to breathe some life back into the Americans and the chances for the United States poured on from there. Ultimately they couldn’t get the equalizing goal to force penalty kicks and Belgium won, advancing to the quarterfinal where they will play Argentina.
