Cyanide Studio has been working on a sequel to its PC version of the classic Games Workshop tabletop game Blood Bowl for a while, even showing a pre-alpha build this year at E3. But the French developer has also been laboring on a way to bring Warhammer-style football to mobile devices as well, and we’re going to see the fruits of that labor soon.
In conjunction with Focus Home Interactive, Cyanide announced today that Blood Bowl is going to be released for iOS and Android tablets later this month, bringing a whole different meaning to “fantasy football.” Players will be able to choose from six races — Human, Orc, Dwarf, Skaven, Wood Elf and Chaos — each with their own distinct strengths and weaknesses. Want a high-powered passing attack? The Wood Elves are your boys. And if you don’t even care if you score touchdowns and just want to bash and maim as many opponents as possible, the Dwarves are probably more your style.
Quick Solo games and a single-player Campaign Mode are both included, as is the option for “Hotseat” Multiplayer matches. Blood Bowl will also support online leagues where mobile players will be able to square off against each other or people with the PC edition.
Cyanide is touting an early July release date, which sounds like it’s right around the corner to me. Keep an eye on the official website for more launch details.
