TJ Dillashaw, Renan Barao rematch likely for Aug. 30

On Wednesday night, MMA insider Ariel Helwani shared some news about the upcoming summer line up for the UFC and it looks like a title shot will be taking place in late August.

According to Helwani on the latest installment of UFC Tonight, the UFC is targeting a rematch between new UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw and former champion Renan Barao for Aug. 30.

The event would be taking place in Dillashaw’s back yard of Sacramento, California.

UFC 177 had previously been targeted for Las Vegas, but it now appears that the action will be shifting even further west.

Many fans were waiting to see what the UFC would do for Dillashaw in his first title defense.

When he won the belt, he was absolutely dominant against Barao and there didn’t seem to be a real reason for a rematch. Instead, a match against someone like Raphael Assuncao seemed to make more sense.

The UFC saw differently, however, and they decided to go with the match up that they feel will make them the most money.
