Tennessee added to its top-10 recruiting class with the addition of three-star defensive tackle Chance Hall (Roanoke, Va.Northside) who becomes the No. 19 pledge for Butch Jones’ class.

The 6-4, 288-pound Hall is the nation’s No. 679 player overall regardless of position, No. 36 defensive tackle and the No. 23 player in the state of Virginia, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Hall picked the Vols over Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Vanderbilt at an afternoon announcement at his high school.

Hall could see a position switch when he arrives in Knoxville next year as the Vols like his potential on the offensive line and could stick him at offensive tackle and see how he develops at offensive tackle or guard. Offensive guard could very well be his best spot based on his strength and ability to win one-on-one battles inside the trenches.

Tennessee extended their offer to the versatile lineman on April 15 and unofficial visits followed a few days later on April 21 and later on June 21 before shutting down his recruitment to be another “brick” in the rebuilding effort underway with the Vols.

The Volunteers were the biggest surprise on the recruiting trail last season in the first year under Jones since leaving Cincinnati and finished with a consensus top-seven class and are well on their way to another outstanding class.

With today’s commitment of Hall, Tennessee solidifies their spot at No. 8 in the 247Sports team rankings and the No. 5 class in the SEC, trailing Alabama, Texas A&M, Auburn and South Carolina.
