First look at Sacha Baron Cohen in Grimsby

The first image of comedian Sacha Baron Cohen in the film Grimsby has been released. The film, directed by Louis Leterrier was co-written by Cohen and is scheduled for a July 31st, 2015 release.

The picture, a Sony Pictures comedy, will feature Mark Strong, Annabelle Wallis, Ian McShane, Gabourey Sidibe, Johnny Vegas and others. The motion picture centers on a secret agent who finds out he has a long lost, dimwitted, soccer fan brother who he must team up with.

The image was “Tweeted” by comic genius Eric Idle of Monty Python fame. The image features Idle alongside the in costume Cohen.

Cohen was last seen in Anchorman 2: the Legend Continues and is currently filming Grimsby. He is also set to appear in the film “Through the Looking Glass” which is now in pre-production.

Cohen rose to stardom in the film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, yes that is the actual name of the film. Prior to Borat, the comedian had done voice work and appeared in several other films as a secondary character.

Cohen’s films have averaged out to just over $126,199,439 million per film and that includes pictures like the Madagascar trilogy to which he lender his voice as well as the musical interpretation of Les Miserables in 2012. Cohen also appeared in Talladega Nights: the Legend of Ricky Bobby.  None of Cohen’s featured films have crossed the $100 million domestic threshold except for Borat which grossed an estimated $128 million at the box office.

Grimsby will be the comedian’s 4th lead film.
