Luol Deng isn’t the biggest prize in free agency with the likes of LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Pau Gasol, among others commanding much of the attention, but it’s the All-Star small forward that is coveted by many teams across the country, including the Los Angeles Clippers.

More from Los Angeles Clippers

The Cleveland Cavaliers free agent is growing intrigued with the idea of a sign-and-trade with Clippers to play alongside Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan and playing for Doc Rivers, widely considered one of the top two or three head coaches in the NBA.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports Deng is expected to speak with Rivers today and perhaps he can get a verbal commitment from one of the top free agents on the market.

Adding Deng to the roster in LA would make the Clippers even more dangerous in the loaded Western Conference that could become even stronger depending on the destinations of the trio of free agents mentioned at the top, and would give the Clippers another wing player to complement Paul and space the floor even more for Griffin and Jordan to do their damage in the paint.

Deng is coming off a season where he averaged 16 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game with the Chicago Bulls and Cavaliers. His numbers took a bit of a dip after the trade from Chicago to Cleveland, but was an All-Star in the previous two seasons.
