The Florida State Seminoles won their first college football national championship since 1999 in the 2013 seas, and with that comes a lot of recognition from a lot of different outlets across the sports world.
This weekend in Daytona, Florida, the NASCAR world will pay homage to the 14-0 Seminoles as Brian Vickers will be driving a Florida State-themed car, honoring the national champions and their tremendous victory over the Auburn Tigers last season.
With Heisman-winning quarterback Jameis Winston at the helm, the Seminoles ran roughshod over the competition last season, dominating virtually every opponent they faced.
After another big win over the Duke Blue Devils in the ACC Championship Game, they earned a spot in the final BCS Championship Game at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, where they would be facing the Auburn Tigers, surprise champions of the mighty SEC.
Well after dominating everyone throughout the year, the ‘Noles got their first real test of the season with the biggest prize on the line, but they were able to survive and walk out with the 34-31 victory.
This season, with Winston back, they’ll look to do a lot more of the same as they look to be the first repeat national champions since the Alabama Crimson Tide earlier this decade.
