With WSOF’s biggest card taking place Saturday afternoon, the event had an early weigh in time today. Unfortunately, everything didn’t go according to plan for one of the card’s biggest fights.
Lightweight Melvin Guillard weighed in significantly over the 156 pound limit for the division, and will likely have to forfeit a portion of his fight purse to Gesias Cavalcante. This is the second time Guillard has missed weight, the first time coming in 2012 before a UFC bout with Donald Cerrone.
The fact that Guillard is even fighting seems like a minor miracle, as he was involved in a major car crash just weeks ago.
World Series of Fighting 11 takes place at the Ocean Center in Daytona, Florida on Saturday. It is the debut of WSOF on NBC and airs live at 4 PM ET after preliminary fights at 2 PM ET.
