Early Saturday morning Alabama backup running back Kenyan Drake was arrested in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on a misdemeanor charge of obstructing governmental operations, according to AL.com.
Drake, who is the primary backup to T.J. Yeldon was arrested after crossing in to a crime scene that was roped off with his car inside the crime scene. According to the AL.com story, there was a shooting outside a local bar and Drake ignored multiple orders to stay out of the crime scene but attempted to retrieve his vehicle inside the roped off area anyway.
“He was trying to cross a crime scene,” Tuscaloosa Police Spokesman Sgt. Bren Blankley said, via AL.com. “We had a shooting and his vehicle was parked inside the crime scene. We told him that he could not get his vehicle and he tried to cross the crime scene anyway so he could get his vehicle. Officers arrested him for obstructing government operations.”
The junior running back has put up 975 yards and 13 touchdowns in his first two seasons on the Crimson Tide. He had 694 yards, averaged 7.5 yards a carry and has eight touchdowns while pushing Yeldon all season long.
Alabama has yet to comment on the arrest and according to AL.com, Drake bonded out on Saturday afternoon on $1,000 bond.
