Elite 11: 5-star recruit Torrance Gibson shows off touch at QB (Video)
The recruitment of five-star athlete Torrance Gibson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla. American Heritage) has already proven to be one of the most intriguing as we head into this week’s Elite 11 and The Opening camps.

The 6-4, 200-pound Gibson is the nation’s No. 16 overall recruit and the No. 1 ranked athlete, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, but he used to be the No. 1 ranked dual-threat quarterback recruit until the shift was made because of the uncertainty surrounding his college position.
Some teams view Gibson as an athletic option that could thrive in the right college system with a little more polish. Others view Gibson as a future wide receiver. Adding to the intrigue is that Gibson is working with the coaches at the Elite 11 to refine his quarterback skills, but isn’t competing to win the event and will be a receiver in the 7-on-7 drills.
Nevertheless, when Gibson has his opportunity to drop back and throw the ball, he showed some nice touch on the ball and was receptive to the instruction from Trent Dilfer.
Gibson has named the Tennessee Volunteers his leader after jockeying back-and-forth with Auburn, LSU, UCF, Arizona, Oklahoma and Ohio State in the mix for Gibson.
However, the team making a big push for him is Miami and the Hurricanes would love nothing more to keep the south Florida talent close to home and develop him at quarterback.
Gibson passed for 1,789 yards with 19 touchdowns to only three interceptions last season as a junior while adding 1,063 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground on 111 attempts.
