Everett Golson steals show at Elite 11 as Notre Dame QB looks stellar

Everett Golson was the forgotten fan around college football last year as the Notre Dame quarterback missed last season after being dismissed from the university for academic misconduct. The Fighting Irish hope he will resemble the player who helped lead the team to the BCS Championship two seasons ago, although he may not resemble that player, he may be much better.

Golson stole the show during the first day of workouts at the Elite 11 quarterback camp on the Nike campus in Beaverton, Oregon and was throwing darts all over the field as the camp counselor took a number of reps with the high school recruits in attendance.

Golson looked much better than he did during the Notre Dame spring game where Malik Zaire outplayed him leading to questions about a potential quarterback controversy in South Bend, but he was really just shaking off the rust after missing a season of football.

Golson also looked much bigger than the redshirt freshman we saw two seasons ago and according to ESPN’s Travis Haney, Golson has put on 15 pounds since we last saw him in 2012 and says Notre Dame will have a wide-open offense this year with the depth they have at wide receiver.

Consider him primed and ready to navigate the Irish through what Phil Steele considers to be nation’s toughest schedule in 2014.
