Miami Heat rumors: Serious interest in Josh McRoberts
By Bryan Rose
When free agency broke, there were rumors suggesting that the Miami Heat would target free agents like Kyle Lowry and Marcin Gortat in effort to lure LeBron James back to South Beach. Of course, that didn’t go so well as both Lowry and Gortat re-signed with their former teams and the Heat supposedly didn’t even offer either a contract.

Both would have been out of the Miami Heat’s price range anyway, but the team has apparently struggled to sign other free agents due to the uncertainty of available funds. With James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh still unsigned, the Heat were unable to offer concrete figures to potential free agents.
Given that, they’ve struggled to bring in additional talent but according to Yahoo Sports, they now appear to have serious interest in signing Josh McRoberts.
McRoberts formerly played for the Charlotte Bobcats (now Hornets) but decided to opt-out of his contract this offseason. There was hope from the Hornets organization that they’d be able to re-sign McRoberts, but interest from the Miami Heat may prevent that.
Of course, I’m pretty sure that players like Josh McRoberts aren’t the type of talents that LeBron James was requesting when he informed the Miami Heat front office that he’d like an upgrade, though he’d certainly give the Miami Heat bench a solid boost.
There hasn’t been any talk about money at this point, though the Heat won’t be able to afford much assuming they sign all the members of their ‘Big 3’.
