I think it is safe to say that maybe, and this is being generous, 2% of Iggy Azalea fans have any idea who Crosby, Still, Nash, and Young even are; however, those of us who are old enough to remember who those musical legends are got a real surprise on last night’s episode of The Tonight Show.
Jimmy Fallon was back at it again as the musical legend Neil Young, brown jacket, suede hat, and all.
Fallon took to the stage in a near spot-on performance of Neil Young singing hip hop sensation Iggy Azalea’s hit song “Fancy.”
The scary part was, it was pretty amazing.
Under normal circumstances, I couldn’t possibly envision this song fitting any other style than the one given to it by the young female rapper; however, Fallon, or should I say Young, nailed it quite nicely.
To make things even more amazing than they already were, after Fallon hit “the fast lane from LA to Tokyo” as the song says, he was joined on stage by musical legends David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash; otherwise known as the musical trio Crosby, Stills, and Nash.
Did you ever in all your days think that you would hear “Fancy” broken down into four part harmony? Well, whether you’re ready or not, you’re about to.
Here’s a look at Jimmy Fallon as Neil Young, accompanied by Crosby, Stills, and Nash, singing Iggy Azalea’s hit song “Fancy” on Monday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
I’m not going to lie to you; the best part of the entire song is hearing Crosby, Stills, and Nash nail the “Let’s get drunk on the mini bar” line in the song, especially since bands really did know how to party back in their days.
What did you think of their rendition of “Fancy?” I think the better question may be, how many times have you watched this already? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
