U.S. Military looking to Hollywood for Iron Man suits
By Brian Miller
Who said Hollywood is all fake and phony? I mean, come on, we all knew those Iron Man suits are real, right? Apparently the military thinks so as well. The United States military has picked up the phone and called Hollywood. They want help in designing an exoskeleton suit of armor for real war activity.

According to the Wall Street Journal the suit, called TALOS, will provide protection, have weapons, vital monitoring systems, and will give the soldier superhuman strength and perception. Straight out of the Marvel universe.
I keep having flashbacks to the next Call of Duty video game, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. Imagine U.S. soldiers doing what the fake soldiers in the C.O.D. video are doing.
Locheed Martin and General Dynamics are getting involved in the project. The Journal is also saying smaller companies are getting involved as well, including Legacy Effects, which actually made the Iron Man suits for the three films. The company is making 3D print prototypes.
"“When you’re doing something for a movie it is all make-believe,” Legacy founder Lindsay MacGowan told the Journal about the big change for what the company does. “Whereas, for the military, that’s really not going to be the case.”"
While the U.S. is looking at the possibilities, it’s likely that we won’t see anything tangible for a very long time. Power will be a problem for the suits, as will weight and agility. The suit is expected to weigh, according to the Journal, upwards of 400 pounds, which is unrealistic. If that is the case, the suit may look more like the first Tony Stark outfit that resembled a giant silver can instead of the red and gold we recognize now.
