Google’s Chromcast has only grown in popularity since it was initially unveiled.  With the product, users are able to more effectively and efficiently stream interests to their HDTV.

Today, Google announced that one of the features announced at Google’s I/O conference will be unveiled on the device.

With Android screen mirroring coming to Chromecast, Google is making sure to take a page right out of the competition’s book.  With Apple devices featuring AirPlay technology, allowing users to transmit their devices across multiple screens, Android screen mirroring will do the same thing for Chromecast.

Users will need to download the Chromecast app, available on the Google Play store, and from the app can access the feature.  In a drop down menu, selecting “Cast Screen” will allow Chromecast users to have their screen brought up on the TV as well.  For Nexus users, downloading the app won’t be necessary, as the option will be in the quick settings menu.

The Android screen mirroring technology will work across any app that is able to run on an Android device.  This means that users don’t have to be using Google technology, and can be using any application, when mirroring their screen to the TV.

The new feature is being rolled out in the 1.7 update for Google Chromecast.  Right now, the feature is in beta as well, so it will take a matter of days to be rolled out across every Android device.  Regardless, the install has started and should be available to all users shortly.
