After attempting to sign Brooklyn Nets’ point guard Deron Williams in 2012, Houston Rockets’ center Dwight in 2013 and New York Knicks’ forward Carmelo Anthony this offseason and whiffing in all three years (although they have agreed to an offer sheet with Rockets’ forward Chandler Parsons), the Mavericks will be once again chasing top free agents in 2015.

Although Portland Trail Blazers’ power forward LaMarcus Aldridge has expressed his desire to become an all-time great Trail Blazer, he along with Minnesota Timberwolves’ power forward Kevin Love and Memphis Grizzlies’ center Marc Gasol, will be targets of the Mavericks in the 2015 offseason.

"“I’m happy to stay, happy to be here, happy with the direction the team has gone the last year or two,” said Aldridge, who could sign a three-year deal worth $55 million this offseason or wait until next summer and get a five-year, $108 million deal. “This has no impact on my interest in staying in Portland. I just want to get a five-year deal. I feel like that’s the best decision on my part.”The Mavs will have enough cap space to offer a max contract again next summer and have three players in mind, according to sources: Aldridge, Kevin Love and Marc Gasol."

All three players, along with another all-star big in the Charlotte Hornets’ Al Jefferson, can become unrestricted free agents in 2015.

Love averaged 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game last season while shooting 45.7% from the field, 37.6% from three and 82.1% from the charity stripe. Gasol went for 14.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 47.3% from the field, 18.2% from beyond the arc and 76.8% from the free throw line in 59 games.
