Strong’s Longhorns entered Wednesday with one of the elite offensive line classes in the class of 2015. They have commitments from 4-Star offensive tackle Toby Weathersby, 4-Star offensive guard Patrick Vahe and 3-Star offensive tackle Ronnie Major. On Wednesday, they added their fourth commitment from one of the big uglies up front when 3-Star offensive guard Garrett Thomas gave his pledge to the Longhorns.

Thomas was offered by the Longhorns back in May and although an offer from the rival Oklahoma Sooners had to have made him think, he’s known were he wanted to be for some time.

“I feel confident in my decision. I’ve been really ready to get it out of the way for awhile now. Now that I’ve finally got it done it feels good,” Thomas told Blake Munroe of Horns247.

Thomas will be an early enrollee, meaning he will start school in he spring semester and will get to work out and practice with the Longhorns during spring practice.

The 6’6.5, 306-pounder is from Many, Louisiana and attends Many High School. Thomas is ranked as the country’s 38th-best offensive guard prospect, the 34th-best overall prospect from the stat of Louisiana and the 560th-best overall prospect in the class of 2015, according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Thomas not only had offers from the Longhorns and Sooners, but the Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers, California Golden Bears, Miami Hurricanes, Michigan Wolverines and Ole Miss Rebels were all after Thomas.

The Longhorns now 11 verbal commitments in the class of 2015. Their class ranks 18th nationally and first in the Big 12.
