Big time eSports is getting ready to hit Atlanta this weekend.

Red Bull Battle Grounds Atlanta is bringing some of the top competitive StarCraft II players in the world to the Center Stage Theater for three days of intense tournament action on July 11 through July 13. Some of the pros scheduled to compete include:

  • Choi “Polt” SEong Hun: World-renowned player from Korea, now based in Atlanta
  • Danny “ViBe” Scherlong: American champ, hungry to regain his former glory
  • Olivia “Livibee” Seeto: Representing the Aussies down under – and the female fans
  • Huang “TooDming” Hui Min: Hailing from China, this powerhouse has been performing well but looking for that major win

Perhaps the most interesting twist to this event is that it had open registration, meaning anyone could register and test their skills against the pros. The top 32 players will win cash prizes — including $8,000 to the overall winner — and the person who comes out on top will receive a spot in the Red Bull Battle Grounds Grand Finals in Washington D.C. in September.

Red Bull is going all out to make it an event people want to attend in person, with a special pre-tournament meet and greet open to the public on Thursday, July 10. That will take place at Battle & Brew, Atlanta’s first gaming bar, from 8 pm to 11 pm. Drinks, food and pick-up games with pros and amateurs will all be on tap.

If Atlanta is too far from you, don’t fret. All three days of competition will stream for free at battlegrounds.redbull.com beginning at 11 am, and you can get all the details on Red Bull Battle Grounds Atlanta and the rest of this year’s events on that same site.
