It looked as if New York Knicks’ free agent forward Carmelo Anthony was set to make a decision. As free agency opened last week, he visited the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers before taking a meeting with the Knicks in Los Angeles. With his visits wrapped up on Thursday, it was believed he would take the weekend to consider his options and make a decision.

Then, Monday came and there was no decision. Same for Tuesday, Wednesday and now Thursday.

After originally forcing his way to the New York Knicks from the Denver Nuggets, it seemed like it would be a long shot for Anthony to leave. However, after the Knicks missed the playoffs last season, the speculation grew and entering free agency, many believed the Bulls were the favorites. Confidence swung back into the Knicks’ favor, but soon, the Lakers emerged as legitimate contenders after Anthony and the Lakers had an impressive meeting.

According to Ken Berger of CBS Sports, the Knicks, Bulls and Lakers are still being considered by Anthony.

"Taking a page from LeBron James’ free-agent handbook, Carmelo Anthony is in no particular hurry to make a decision. It’s a three-team race between the Knicks, Bulls and Lakers, a league source told CBSSports.com Thursday, and Anthony still has some thinking to do.While all signs pointed to Anthony agreeing to a five-year, $129.5 million deal with the Knicks by now, there has been nothing — no decision, and no communication with the Knicks, as team president Phil Jackson revealed Thursday."

Anthony put up 27.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game and shot 45.2% from the field, 40.2% from beyond the arc and 84.8% from the free throw line last season.
