Guild Wars 2 PvP is going to get a global feel and a big stage at Gamescom, and players and fans will get to vote on who’s going to represent North America and Europe.
ArenaNet announced today that the inaugural Guild Wars 2 International All-Stars Tournament will be held at Gamescom August 14-17 at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany. It will be the first time that Chinese players take part in a competition of this type since GW2 launched in China last May.
True to the all-star game spirit from pro sports, the competitors from North America and Europe will be chosen by fan voting. From now through July 17, people can go online and choose between 32 qualified candidates. Winners will receive free travel to and accommodations at Gamescom, where they will compete for exclusive armor sets, legendary weapons and more.
The entire International All-Stars Tournament will be streamed live on Twitch, available on both the main page and on the Guild Wars 2 Twitch channel.
“When it comes to competitive gaming, Twitch has established itself as the premiere destination for the industry’s most premium content,” Jason Fletcher, Twitch Events BD Manager, EMEA, said in a statement. “With ArenaNet using our platform and gamescom booth to broadcast their Guild Wars 2 event, it’s another example of how strong the esports content and community is on Twitch.”
