Pau Gasol rumors: Gasol meets with Los Angeles Lakers
As the world waits on Miami Heat free agent forward LeBron James and New York Knicks free agent forward Carmelo Anthony to make their decisions, free agency has been taken hostage.

After James, Anthony and Heat big man Chris Bosh, there is another group of free agents headlined by Los Angeles Lakers’ big man Pau Gasol, Utah Jazz swingman Gordon Hayward (who has signed an offer sheet with the Charlotte Hornets), Houston Rockets’ forward Chandler Parsons (who signed an offer sheet with the Dallas Mavericks), Detroit Pistons’ big man Greg Monroe and Indiana Pacers’ guard Lance Stephenson, among others.
Gasol is perhaps the most interesting case because seemingly every contender is pursuing him. The Chicago Bulls, who have seemingly given up on Anthony, would love to land him. The Western Conference’s elite, the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs are in pursuit, the New York Knicks’ president Phil Jackson and head coach Derek Fisher would love to reunite with Gasol.
The Lakers, however, are going to do whatever they can to make sure they hold onto him.
According to Marc J. Spears, Lakers’ general manager Mitch Kupchak met with Gasol at the Lakers’ practice facility after the moratorium was lifted.
Gasol averaged 17.4 points, 9.7 rebounds 3.4 assists and 1.5 blocks per game last season. He shot 48.0% from the field, 28.6% from beyond the arc and 73.6% from the free throw line.
