Boise State LB Mat Boesen arrested on traffic charges

It shouldn’t come as a surprise when a college football player gets arrested, so try to contain the shock with the news that Boise State Broncos linebacker Mat Boesen has been arrested on traffic charges.

According to KTVB-TV, Boesen has been arrested on two misdemeanor traffic charges (inattentive or careless driving and resisting or obstructing officers).

From the report:

He was booked in the Ada County Jail on Thursday and released the same night.

The Boise State athletic department says they are aware of the situation and following our student-conduct policy.

Boesen, a redshirt freshman, did not see playing time during his first year on the Boise State campus.

The details of the incident are very scarce, so we will have to wait and see just how severe the punishment handed down from the university is — if there is anything at all.

Boesen is not expected to start in 2014.
