The Los Angeles Lakers have re-signed big man Jordan Hill, according to Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski.

The first thing that jumps out about this deal is the high price tag. $9 million annually for Hill seems like an awfully high price to pay.

That’s not to say Hill isn’t a fine player with potential. At 26, Hill averaged 9.7 points (54.9 percent shooting from the floor), 7.4 rebounds and .9 blocks per game last season with the Lakers.

However, it doesn’t speak too highly of Hill’s ability that he played just 20.8 minutes per game on an atrocious Los Angeles team.

Hill made it clear towards the end of last season that he wouldn’t return to the Lakers if he was given the same role, so one would assume the team told him he would see the court more next season.

From Mark Medina of insidesocal.com in April:

"Yet, it appears clear that Hill has no interest in filling that role long-term. He said “it’s too early to say” on where he would like to play once he becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. Hill also called the Lakers “the best franchise in the NBA.” Though he did not rule out returning to the Lakers next season, Hill made it clear he has no interest in doing so if it means having a similar role.“Of course not,” Hill said. “Who would?”"

The New York Knicks drafted Hill with the 8th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.
