EA Sports has released a teaser video that previews the brand new Gaunlet mode coming to Madden 15 this year.

The new mode features a number of arcade-style mini-games that end in “boss battles”.

Gauntlet is a tutorial mode aimed to teach players the different skills of the game without being the typical, dry tutorial mode that players have become accustomed to in the past.

The new mode features 48 new game drills that will help players learn the control scheme as well as learn how to recognize defenses before hiking the ball. The new skill mini-games will also be featured in a player’s career mode as part of the weekly pre-game preparation. Completing the drills will earn players XP that they can then use to improve their player(s).

One of these mini-game tasks involve the player having to kick a 110-yard field goal in 220 mph hurricane-force winds. Others, as you can see in the video above, involve running through a crowd of people who are just standing around on the football field, trying to get to the quarterback with your whole team watching on and making sure the running back doesn’t make it to the endzone, among others.

Madden 15 launches on August 26 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game will also be released on the last-gen consoles, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Mike’s Musings: The Gauntlet mode seems kind of fun, and should add some fun factor to the usually dry tutorial mode. The over-the-top announcer that you hear in the video may be annoying for some, but I find it a nice change of pace from the dull commentary provided by Jim Nantz and Phil Simms.
