NBA Trade Rumors: Is Jeremy Lin headed to the Lakers?

With LeBron James going back to the Clevleand Cavaliers, the NBA Free Agency period has began to roll with the first domino falling is Chris Bosh being available to take the max contract offered to him in Houston.

But before Houston can get to that point, the organization must move Jeremy Lin’s contract to open up space to offer the contract  space for Bosh and with the clock ticking on Chandler Parson’s offer sheet from Dallas, they must act expeditiously. And after being rumored to be in talks with the Philadelphia 76ers, the Houston Rockets may be sending Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers says Marc Stein of ESPN.

More from Houston Rockets

Lin wouldn’t bring much to a Lakers team who looked to pin down a top name free agent this summer, but with an expiring deal of $8 million, he’d give them some flexibility going into the summer of 2015 where several top free agents will be on the open market. As regards to what he can do on the floor, Lin would provide Los Angeles with insurance at the point guard position as Steve Nash is still a question mark due to his injury history and free agent point guards Steve Blake (POR) and Jordan Farmar (LAC) will be elsewhere for the 2014-15 season.

Last season for the Rockets, Lin averaged 12.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game as a reserve guard.

It’s all a game of keeping their books clear for the summer of 2015 and by taking Lin, Los Angeles may incidentally help propel the Houston Rockets to contention in the Western Conference.
