Could Raiden be revealed for Mortal Kombat X during Evo?

IGN thinks so. Using as evidence the image posted above, which came from the Facebook page of developer NetherRealm Studios, as well as Twitter activity from Mortal Kombat mastermind Ed Boon, it’s pretty clear that something is going to be revealed during the Injustice: Gods Among Us finals at Evo 2014 on Saturday. And what better place for a big unveiling than the biggest, most popular fighting game tournament in the world?

Raiden makes sense because Mortal Kombat X is set 25 years after the previous game in the series, meaning that stalwarts like Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade have ceded the spotlight to their children — quite literally in the case of Cassie Cage, Johnny and Sonya’s daughter. But we’ve already seen that non-human fighters like Sub-Zero and Scorpion are still around, and as a thunder god, Raiden certainly is immune to the ravages of time. Hence the “I stand watch for eternity” thing. Maybe.

In any case, there’s a ton to see at Evo 2014 while you wait to see if Raiden materializes. Conveniently, GameSided editor Daniel George has already done the work of getting everything together and putting the full Day 1 schedule in one post. You can thank him later.
