The Washington Capitals signed Jakub Vrana last month, using their 13th overall pick on the forward in the 2014 NHL Draft.
It appears that the team was right when using their first selection on Vrana, at least if the following video is any indication of what he’ll bring to the ice in the fall.
This video is just one example of the skills he posses and has been showcasing during development camp:
Vrana played last season in the Swedish Hockey League for Linkoping. He has been described as being all about goal scoring and labeled as a strong player. He had eight goals in seven games at the Under 18 Tournament in Finland just prior to being selected in the draft.
Despite some concerns about the speed of his game, Vrana was able to dispel any bad thoughts by getting to the spots on the ice to receive the puck and make the necessary plays.
Vrana is a determined player who takes the initiative to work on his game during any and all downtime. The work ethic alone has the ability to help in any areas where he may lack the needed skill to advance at the professional level. Playing in the NHL is no small feat, however this young man has all the attributes necessary to help him have a great career.
