During the past few weeks, frustration has been vented from both Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez, the two starts of the Colorado Rockies organization. The irritation is well warranted given the sub-par play of the franchise, though in fairness to the front office it was Tulo and Gonzo who requested such large contracts.

That’s not to say they should have turned the offers down, however you have to know that signing such a deal is going to handcuff the franchise moving forward.

It’s something we’ve seen young athletes do time and time again only to grow irritated as the losses continue to mount. Such has put the Colorado Rockies in an odd position – do they try and get through the pain or do they explore a potential trade (or trades) involving Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez?

As of right now it sounds as if the Colorado Rockies will attempt to right their ship with at least Gonzalez aboard as there is fear moving their big name players will hurt their bottom line even further.

"While there’s been speculation that the Rockies could do something dramatic and deal Carlos Gonzalez or Troy Tulowitzki, one major league source indicated that “[owner Charlie] Monfort centers everything around Tulo and Cargo.” The feeling is Monfort would be hesitant to let his two stars go because of ramifications concerning ticket sales and TV ratings. “Those are legitimate concerns in that market,” said the source."

No matter how you slice it, it’s a mess for the Rockies and there’s going to be a faction of unhappy fans either way.
