The Phoenix Suns have stated for months that they plan to match any offer presented to restricted free agent Eric Bledsoe. So far that has kept teams at bay, though with both LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony off the market it’s expected that Bledsoe will now have interest from teams left at the alter. However, the Miami Heat are not expected to be one of those teams.

More from Miami Heat

After LeBron James decided to leave South Beach and return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, rumors began to swirl suggesting that the Miami Heat could attempt to sign Eric Bledsoe to an offer sheet. However, now with Chris Bosh, Josh McRoberts and Luol Deng under contract, it’s questionable if the team can afford to put in a bid. Given that, PBD suggests Mario Chalmers re-signing with the Heat is far more likely.

No matter who signs Eric Bledsoe, be it the Phoenix Suns or another team, doing so is likely to require a maximum level contract. There are questions looming of Bledsoe is even worth that type of coin and while the Miami Heat do have a significant amount of cap space, they also need to fill out their roster with it.

In addition to the Suns and Heat, the Milwaukee Bucks have also been mentioned as a potential suitor for Eric Bledsoe, however it’s not known if they’re willing to put forth enough money, especially if they fear the Suns will match the offer sheet.

For now, Eric Bledsoe continues to wait.
