The unofficial start of college football is here with the beginning of SEC Media Days at Hyatt Regency Birmingham—The Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover, Ala. that runs until July 17.

The four-day event will once again be the host to some of the best coaches and players in the country, but for the first time since the 2006 Media Days, the defending national champions will not be in attendance.

But the national runners-up will be there as the Auburn Tigers follow SEC Commissioner Mike Slive who opens up the event at 11 a.m. ET. You can watch on ESPNU and stream live on Watch ESPN.

Malzahn is the reigning Coach of the Year awards after turning around Auburn from a three-win team the year prior to SEC Champions and earning a berth in the BCS Championship Game. He coached a Heisman Trophy finalist in Tre Mason, developed Greg Robinson into the No. 2 player in the 2014 NFL Draft and made Nick Marshall a Heisman candidate this season.

Marshall was supposed to be one of the three Tigers to meet the media on Monday, but after a citation for possession of “less than an ounce” of marijuana on Friday, Auburn has pulled him from attending and will no longer represent Auburn at SEC Media Days.

He would have been one of a handful of Heisman candidates to speak over the next four days, but Auburn is in essence using as the first phase of his punishment, with more potential punishment forthcoming. Malzahn will have to face the media for him and will undoubtedly be asked what type of punishment he will hand down and if Marshall will be suspended and miss any games.

In his absence, C.J. Uzomah will take his place one week after being named to the John Mackey Award watch list for the second straight year as one of the nation’s top tight ends. He had three touchdown receptions last season, including the game-winner in the final seconds in the win against Mississippi State that helped propel Auburn to the magical run they experienced in 2013.

Joining Uzomah at Media Days is his center, Reese Dismukes, who was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list last week after being named a finalist last year as one of the top players at his position in the nation.

Finally, defensive lineman Gabe Wright gives a voice for the Tiger defense which has flown under the radar as a result of the prolific offense on The Plains, but should be a much better unit than last year with bigger contributions from sophomores Carl Lawson and Montravius Adams, among others on Ellis Johnson’s defense.

If you could ask one question to Malzahn or either of these three players, what would it be?
