World Cup trophy presentation: Germany hoists trophy

Germany and Argentina squared off in the World Cup final on Sunday and it was a remarkable game that was close and down to the wire. The game went to extra time and appeared to be headed towards penalty kicks.

A late goal from Mario Gotze, which was an absolutely stunning goal and arguably the best of the tournament or one of the best at the very least. He chested the ball down and before it hit the ground booted it on goal to seal Germany the win.

Argentina couldn’t get a late equalizer and Germany went on to win the World Cup and to hoist the trophy. Lionel Messi and Argentina came up short again. Soccer has some of the most elaborate trophy presentations and the World Cup is no different.

After individual awards, the teams come up for their medals. First the losing team goes up and receives their runner-ups medals. Then came the winners, Germany, to receive their winner’s medals and to celebrate as confetti rains down upon them.
