Sick of Rajon Rondo trade rumors? Well, buckle up. You’re in for a rough ride. Imagine an NBA landscape where the most interesting and readily available will be Rondo. Once Kevin Love gets dealt, that will be the landscape.

More from Boston Celtics

As Ben Watanabe of NESN says, “Now it’s Rondo’s turn.

It’s been eventful and fun thus far. There was LeBron James making big moves in returning to Cleveland. Carmelo Anthony performed his patented Melo drama by threatening to leave New York — only to return there. Chris Bosh stayed in Miami. As mentioned, it’s probably a matter of time for K-Love. Then all the media’s attention will fix upon Rajon Rondo.

And he’s definitely exited the building. We’ve all been definitely 99.9% sure that he’s leaving Boston. And yet, he’s still there. Amidst a half-blown-up roster. Caught in basketball hell.

Unfortunately for Rondo, he could be caught there a whole lot longer. His value as a point guard should be incredible. His power to distribute is priceless. His smooth operated fake, behind-the-back pass is one of the coolest moves in basketball. For one reason or another though, his value on the trade market has not reached a premium that has allowed the Boston Celtics to part with him.

The 28-year-old is making $12.9 million next season, so it’s not like he has an unmovable salary. In fact, for Rondo’s talents, that’s probably a steal. It’s been said for what feels like two years — Rondo is leaving Boston. Once we have nothing else to talk about. Rondo will be all we talk about. And something tells me, the Celtics are going to be just as picky about their trade partner as they’ve always been.
