The Chicago Bulls were looking at ways they could improve the roster this offseason so that a title run can be attempted next season and while they lost out on Carmelo Anthony, they struck gold with Pau Gasol and made him their big free agent signing of the offseason.

More from Chicago Bulls

Big is a bit of an understatement too as the Bulls deal with Gasol extends beyond the original two years that was projected and into a third year, making the total amount on the cotract $22 million.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo! Sport, the Bulls and Gasol are finalizing their deal but the exact details of that third year are unknown.

It’s very possible that the third year is some sort of option or that the money isn’t fully guaranteed but no matter, the Bulls have Gasol locked in for the next three years which means whatever happens with his move to the Windy City is going to be long standing one way or the other.
